Job Description

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Formulation Development Scientist to oversee the creation and optimization of pharmaceutical formulations tailored to compendial, client, and regulatory standards. This role involves helping to guide a team of technicians through the full lifecycle of product development, from concept to clinical manufacturing, while driving innovation, compliance, and operational excellence.

You’ll help lead strategic formulation initiatives, collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments, and ensure that all development activities align with business goals and quality standards. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, science-driven environment and is passionate about delivering results.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Technical Leadership 

  • Help lead formulation development for both generic and innovative pharmaceutical products
  • Oversee planning, execution, and validation of development activities to meet customer and regulatory expectations
  • Resolve complex technical challenges and recommend effective solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Analytical Services, Operations, QC, and QA
  • Drive continuous improvement in formulation processes and systems

Compliance & Documentation 

  • Ensure all documentation, including SOPs, protocols, and reports, meets internal quality and GLP/GMP standards
  • Approve clinical manufacturing documentation and support regulatory submissions
  • Maintain alignment with revenue goals and departmental priorities

Team Development & Mentorship 

  • Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of growth and accountability
  • Develop and implement talent development and succession plans
  • Contribute to strategic planning

Qualifications & Experience 

  • BSc or MSc in Pharmaceutical Science (PhD preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in formulation development
  • Expertise in oral dosage forms including ODTs, controlled release, and spray drying
  • Strong command of Quality by Design principles and process optimization
  • Deep understanding of cGMP regulations and technical transfer protocols
  • Proven ability to collaborate with commercial teams and communicate project progress effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
